Dracula

We just finished reading the novel Dracula in class. This novel was one that I thought I would know a lot about since I have heard the typical story of the vampire since I was a kid. It definitely wasn't the story I was thinking of when I had Dracula in mind, though. The way that this story is set up answers a lot of pending questions of mine. For example, the fact that people aren't turned into vampires after immediately getting bitten, it is an ongoing process. This was a great part of the story, I think, because I always wondered how one bit would make someone get so crazy so fast. Another is the fact that Dracula can't go into a house uninvited. I just thought this was a cool way to make Dracula more mysterious. The other thing that I loved about this vampire story was the fact that Dracula had multiple coffins and this is how he stayed alive for so long. I thought this was a very different way of looking at the way that a vampire lives.

  1. Dracula wasn't what I thought it would be either. It surprised me with every detail how different the story of Dracula was from what I had anticipated it being. I believe the original Dracula story had more creativity thought into it than any vampire story that has come out today.
